Chorus is a crew of agents around a ledger. Code keeps the numbers honest. Grok or ChatGPT write the scene. You swap the world the way you swap a scenario pack — pirate schooner, provincial safehouse, stolen scout on a moonlet.
Why the markdown OS failed
Four files is a good idea: rules, ledger, story, scenario. Using a chat model as the disk is not. The model drifts codes, invents deckhands, forgets a pump bodge, and then argues with you about a hatch in Bristol. Multi-agent play cannot be “paste this into four windows.”
- Ledger drift. Prose is not a database. S3 and “torn sail” diverge.
- One throat. Story, accounting, geography, and physics in one reply will cheat.
- No swap. A pirate ledger cannot become a starbase by renaming the ship.
The split
Chorus is not another campaign file. It is the table the files sit on.
Where
Who is in the room, who is off watch, who is behind a treatment door. Scene logic before dice.
Realism
Historical, contemporary, or setting-canon. Inventions need materials, skills, and people.
Story
The only job the model should have: pressure, voice, options. Grok or ChatGPT, your choice.
Bases, not flavour
A Base is any stationary platform: river berth, terrace safehouse, moonlet dock, firebase, starbase. A Craft is anything that moves: schooner, van, scout. Motive / structure / systems / crew / heat are the same codes. The scenario pack only changes the labels.
That is how a 1716 pump bodge and a worn jump coil are the same mechanical sentence.
